LCHP Health Fitness Summer 08
Car Seat
enhanced
benefits for
2008-2009

Lovelace Salud! provides extra benefits.
These are also called “enhanced” benefits.
These extra benefits are for our Salud! members
and include:

  • Full Medicaid benefits for all members. This includes women who are eligible for Medicaid because they are pregnant. This is Medicaid Category of Eligibility 035. Covered benefits include dental services. They also include vision services.

  • Acupuncture for some health problems. Only if other treatments didn’t help. You need a referral from your doctor. A prior approval from Lovelace Community Health Plan (LCHP) is required.

  • Infant car seat for newborns. The mom needs to go to all of her prenatal office visits to qualify.

  • Toddler car seat for child. The child has to get all his or her required shots before he or she is six months old.

  • Booster car seat for child. The child has to get all his or her shots before he or she is two years old.

  • Grant funds for Native American members. These funds can be used to help pay for a traditional Native American healer. Or they can be used for a traditional Native American ceremony.

  • Community health advocate programs. Also known as promotoras, doulas, or health counselors. The program needs to be contracted and approved by LCHP.

If you would like more information on LCHP’s enhanced benefits,
you can call our Customer Care Center at 505.232.1860 in Albuquerque
or 800.808.7363 statewide.

teen pregnancy

Every year in America, there are nearly
one million teen pregnancies...

If you are a teenager or the parent of a teenager, take time to
communicate about teen pregnancy. Lovelace can help you learn more. We provide coverage for many family-planning services,
which can help you decide:

• the best time to start your family

• when to safely have another baby

• the size of your family

• ways to control when you become pregnant

The only sure way not to get pregnant is to not have sex. However, if you are sexually active, there are many birth-control methods that you can use. Ask your doctor about your choices and which is best for you.

Did you Know?

did you know?

Did you know that children and adolescents should see their doctor at least once a year. This is called a well-child check-up.

Call your doctor to set up a well-child check-up. Your doctor can make sure everything is OK with your child. You can ask for a well-child check-up if you take your child in for another problem. Make sure your child has all his or her vaccinations.

Does your child have asthma? If so, then ask your doctor if your child needs medication. Remember to take care of your child to make your child happy and healthy.
